Ayurvedic Cleansing — Breakfast: Oatmeal with Dates, Chia & Apples

Start the day with this nutrient-rich and cleansing breakfast recipe. The ideal start to your Ayurvedic detox week — filling, warming and soothing.

For 2 portions

ingredients:

  • ¾ cup (60 g) oats of choice
    (e.g. tender flakes, coarse flakes, Irish steel-cut oats)
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • ½ cup (approx. 65 g) finely chopped apple
  • 2 tbsp. soaked chia seeds
  • 3 tbsp. chopped dates

To serve:

  • 2 tbsp. ground flaxseeds (optional)
  • Home-made plant milk (e.g. almond or oat milk)
  • Thin apple slices
  • 1 tsp ghee per serving

Preparation in the evening:

  1. Soak chia seeds:
    In a small glass or bowl, combine ¼ cup of chia seeds with 1 cup of plant milk.
    Stir well, let it swell for 20 minutes, stir again.
    Then use directly or store covered in a refrigerator (can be kept for up to 5 days).
  2. Prepare oats:
    In a small saucepan, mix oats, cinnamon, water, and salt.
    Cover and let soak overnight (8-12 hours).

Preparation in the morning:

  1. The soaked oatmeal Bring to a boil at high heat, stir, cover,
    Reduce heat and at low temperature Let it simmer for 10 minutes. Stir from time to time.
  2. add finely chopped apple, Cook for 1 more minuteuntil everything is nice and warm.
  3. Remove from heat and Stir in 2 tablespoons of the soaked chia seeds and the dates.
  4. Divide between two dishes.
    Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of ground linseed, pour in vegetable milk, garnish with apple slices and drizzle with ghee.

Tip:

Prepare the base the night before so you only have to cook and serve briefly in the morning — perfect for a stress-free detox routine.
